Background:
It is difficult for children from low income families to join extra-curricula activities due to the heavy burden of the families. There is also a high chance for children to wander on the streets as parents need to work for long hours. Thus, we are willing to provide martial arts classes in order to build up these children physically and mentally.
Benefits:
- Introduce Christianity to students and the families
- Boost self-confidence, enhance social ability, train up discipline, and learn to love and care for others
- Enhance concentration and body coordination
- Make good use of spare time and avoid wandering on the streets
- Instill correct values and make good use of martial arts
- Improve children’s health thus reduce medical expenses, increase their family productivity, and escape from poverty
- Develop children’s skills and help them escape from poverty
- Nurture children to become talented persons and contribute back to the society
- Share the gospel at the right time and lead them to church together
Qualifications to be sponsored:
- Definition of low-income family:
(a) Receive full assistance under the CSSA / Student Financial Assistance Scheme; or
(b) (i) Total household income does not exceed 75% of the median monthly household income
(ii) Single-parent families
(iii) Families facing sudden change - Definition of children:
Age 5 or above
Suggestion of sponsorship:
- $300/ month: Sponsor a month’s martial arts training for 1 child
- $400/ month: Sponsor a month’s martial arts training for 1 child from ethnic minority
- $500/ month: Sponsor a month’s martial arts training for 1 child with Special Education Needs
- We welcome gift donation (eg. stationery, candies) or daily necessities (eg. food, toiletries, towels) for low-income families
- Sponsor on a regular basis to support our Ministry
**All expenses are on actual account. Surpluses will be given to other martial arts classes.
